Saint Patrick’s Day can be an odd time for many teens. You’re in an awkward limbo where you’re too old for many of the “family-friendly” events that are really targeted towards children, but too young to go to the adult celebrations. This doesn’t mean all hope is lost! You can still celebrate the holiday with some of these local events!
If you’re looking to get active this St. Patty’s, the Corktown Races in Detroit on March 10 are for you! There are two races available, including the Emerald Mile at 10:40 a.m. and 5k at 11 a.m. There is also the Dublin Double race, where you can participate in both the Emerald Mile and the 5k at a reduced price. Registration is available online or through the mail, and costs are $25, $45, and $55 respectively.
Detroit St. Patrick’s Day Parade
Following the Corktown Races is the Detroit St. Patrick’s Day parade on March 10 at 1 p.m. The parade leaves from 6th Street and Michigan Avenue and heads west down Michigan Avenue until 14th Street. The parade route can be found online.

Bonus: you get hot chocolate at the end! Register for free online at cityofnovi.org by March 12 to save your spot.
