Governor Gretchen Whitmer announced on Jan. 13, that contact sports will not be able to resume with normal practices until Feb. 1. This affects girls and boys basketball, boys ice hockey, wrestling and competitive cheerleading.

MHSAA released a schedule in accordance with Whitmer, where contact practices resume Feb. 1, with contests following that week.

State finals will be pushed to early April.

Girls basketball, with approval from Athletic Director Brian Gordon, is taking part in socially distanced practices until Feb 1. They are conditioning and shooting free throws individually. Other winter contact sports are in a similar position, only permitted to condition.

Contact sports seasons may overlap with the beginning of spring sports due to the late competition start.

The following sports are allowed to practice as per usual: girls and boys bowling, girls gymnastics, boys swim and dive and skiing. These winter sports will be able to complete their seasons before the start of spring sports.

Spring sports are able to continue with traditional dates, holding practices beginning Mar. 15.
