The Olympics are an athletic festival that originated in Ancient Greece and were revived in the 19th century and occur every four years. It is the world’s foremost sports competition that brings together all the countries participating.
“I’ve never really watched the Olympics, but I’m looking forward to watching this one,” sophomore Ben King said.
The Paris 2024 Olympics will be the first Olympics to add break dancing to one of its events.
It will also be the first Olympics with the same number of male and female competitors and the last Olympics during the presidency of Thomas Bach the president of the IOC (International Olympic Committee).
There will be a total of 32 different sports being played at the event.
One thing to look out for at the Paris Olympics is men’s basketball. Men’s basketball will feature stars like LeBron James and Steph Curry. This would be Curry’s first Olympics that he has competed in, while it will be LeBron’s fourth.
“I’m really excited for this summer because I’m a fan of LeBron,” sophomore Sungwon Kum said.
The Paris Olympics will be streamed July 26 – Aug 11. It will be streamed on the streaming platforms NBC and Peacock.
