Oxford Strong Fundraiser to support Oxford shooting victims
Supporting the Oxford Community Memorial & Victims Fund, Don Watchowski, athletic director and director of extracurriculars, announced that the school district will join the MHSAA in a statewide fundraiser.
The Oxford Community Memorial & Victims Fund was started by Oxford Bank, in partnership with Oxford Community Schools and the Oxford DDA. All donations received will go directly to the families affected by the Oxford High School shooting, Nov. 30.
There is apparel on sale at www.supportoxfordstrong.com. T-shirts are $20, with $16.20 donated from each sale. The website also offers long sleeve shirts, crewnecks and sweatshirts, each donating a portion to the Oxford Community Memorial & Victims Fund.
Four sporting events between the middle school and high school will provide free admission for those donning Oxford Strong apparel:
Middle School Girls Basketball on Feb. 2
Boys Varsity Swim on Feb. 3
Freshman, JV, and Varsity Girls Basketball on Feb. 4
Freshman, JV, and Varsity Boys Basketball on Feb. 8
Additionally, to show support for the Oxford community, there will be a district-wide Oxford Strong Navy and Gold Day, Feb. 4. Students and staff are encouraged to wear Oxford Strong apparel or any other Navy and Gold apparel to show support.
